Here is what we made at the preschool this week.
I have long been enchanted by Salley Mavor's use of milkweed pods for her wee folk, so I knew immediately when I stumbled across this beautiful post at Twig and Toadstool what our next project was going to be at the preschool. (Maureen has posted instructions for how to make these here.)
We have been playing with the milkweed fairies all fall, watching as the wind carries the seeds up high over the house.
Left behind are all the perfect little cradles waiting to be filled.
Such a simple project (even for my young three-years-olds), and a sweet treasure for the children to carry home to their nature tables.
In a milkweed cradle all close and warm,
Little seeds are hiding safe from harm.
Open wide the cradle now, hold it high.
Come along wind, help them fly.
