This is the third of three posts about the fairy camp I held this summer at my preschool. (Part One and Part Two)
I made some miniature pieces for the children to add to their gardens. These are pretty quick and simple little projects that an older child could handle quite easily, but for my preschoolers, I really didn't want them to handle the hot glue gun.
For the chairs, tables and doors, I asked the children to gather lots of sticks on our nature walk. Then I had each child ask their fairy to build the furniture they wanted from the sticks. The next morning the children were so surprised to see that the funiture had magically been built in the night.
Four simple steps in pictures.
It's fun to get creative with all the different twigs.
And while I had the hot glue gun heated up, I secured a few stacks of small stones to make each child a fairy sized cairn.
I also made up some wool flowers to add a bit of color. These flowers are inspired by some vintage ones found at the thrift store. Using a scrap of felted wool sweater, some floral wire and embroidery floss, I made garlands and stems of flowers to stick where ever anyone wanted a little color.
Peanut and I made some extra small ones to put into little clay pots.
And finally, using air-hardening clay and floral wire I made some little mushrooms.
