We opened our doors to the preschool over a week ago and I'm finally ready to show off our space. These first three photos are some before and after shots. (I love before/after photos). The house was really a mess when we purchased it in June, the floors being a major problem with gouges and holes and terrible stains. Good thing Papa is so good working with hardwood. He stained them a deep red to hide all the flaws and wood filler and they turned out beautifully.
We did little to change what we call "the big room" where we do circle and nap. The previous owner LOVED wood paneling...it was everywhere...even as contact paper lining the kitchen cupboards. My first thought with this room was to paint it, but the warmth of it has sort of grown on me and it will stay this way for now.
I laughed at myself for picking up this little gnome and mushroom outdoor mat at Target. It seemed so perfect for our little school, but somehow the vintage hooked rug wallhanging that was left behind had to go.
My preschool partner and an etsy find I just fell in love with. (And how cute is this?)
More random shots.
And one last photo of some unfinished business. The bathroom and kitchen. We ran out of both money and steam to get to work on these two rooms. Future projects to be sure.
It's so good to finally be open. Our first week went very well...a few tears, one wetting accident, one scraped knee...all to be expected, I'm sure we'll see much more of this. Many, many thanks to all of you sending emails and well wishes to us as we start this new venture. All of your encouragement and excitment has meant so much.
