for our annual trip to The State Fair. The weekend of rain led to a glorious sunny day. Here are some highlights.
This sculpture is made from garbage that was pulled out of the Mississippi River. I'm always amazed to see what kind of junk ends up there. Love the bubblewrap for eyes.
The 813 and a half pound pumpkin:
There was a lovely display of original children's book illustrations from this library.
This 1975 Strega Nona watercolor and ink mock-up for book cover by (one of my favorites) Tomi dePaolo. (sorry for the bad photos...taking pictures through reflective glass is never easy.)
Also by dePaola from 1975 Clown of God watercolor illustration.
And There Were Giants illustration by another favorite, Lois Lenski.
Then there was All the Milk You Can Drink for $1
(Someone desperately needs a haircut!!)
And finally: knit sock monkey dresses 1 and 2...Who made these?!! There was no name posted, but how fascinating!!
