Today's Harvest Festival for my preschool looked a lot like last year's-minus the rain. We had a spectacular day at a park near the Mississippi River and the children just played and played and played...
At preschool last week we ground the grain and baked our bread that we shared at our meal today, we sanded our discs for craft and learned our songs. Last night I wrapped the bulbs, made a crown for Mother Nature and gathered and painted red leaves with a gel medium-I had high hopes of using them to make a decorative garland, instead they decorated the tables and the crowns.
Today at the park we made butter for our bread by passing jars of heavy cream around for everyone to shake and shake. With help from parents, the children made golden crowns with red leaves and medallions with star prints.
We sang our songs, received a gift of a bulb from Mother Nature, shared a meal...and then the children once again played and played and played...
