So far, September has brought us beautiful weather. Perfect for enjoying walks around the lake and by the creek with my boys. On Sunday my seven-year-old finally (FINALLY) learned how to ride his bike. This is thrilling because we have been working very hard on this all summer.
On our way to the lake we came across this very ambitious hopscotch.
We passed our favorite willow tree...
...saw how mother nature can force her way into the smallest of cracks...
...enjoyed seeing the calm waters...
...and spotted dozens of butterflies.
(Just a reminder to my friends who live locally...the Monarch Festival is this Saturday the 10th. Last years' post about it can be found here.)
Next we headed along the Minnehaha Creek where I spotted elderberries, ripe for syrup making.
Finally, we stopped at Cottontail on the Trail, for a rest before heading home.
A nice woman passing by offered to take a photo of me and the boys... unfortunately, all ten shots she took looked like this.
