I just finished my second Spanish Camp of the summer. We made maracas at the first one...this time we made fiesta flags.
To prepare, I cut bright colored tissue paper into 4x5 inch squares. I folded each square in half, then in half again. The children cut out pieces like you would if you were making a paper snowflake. Then they very carefully opened them up. Their delighted smiles at each new shape they created always amused me. With a little bit of scotch tape we attached them to a length of kitchen string and they were ready for hanging. I love the way they look hanging in window.
I have to admit I am exhausted. The high energy of the children seems to be wearing me down just a bit...of course it has everything to do with the fact that I'm on week two of solo parenting. I'm counting the minutes until papa gets home. Watching this stop motion video that my friend Veronica (of Petunia) posted of her husband watching tv with their daughter really demonstrates just how high that energy is that kids have. It cracks me up, but also tires me out.
I think I need a nap.
