On Saturday, Peanut and I went to the Textile Center to see the current exhibit on art cloth. I have been dreaming of these pieces of textile art ever since and am thrilled I was given permission to take photographs. I absolutely LOVED them all but will only post four of them here.
The Dream By Laura Jeanne Pitts. My personal favorite. Linen and cotton embroidery thread. Fabric dyed, stripped, rewoven then stitched. Embroidered on top. Here's a close up:
Next, Pattern Language: Mantra I by Jane Dunnewold
Silk broadcloth printed with textile paint and gold leaf. Hand written mantra in colored pencil. Edges hand stitched with gold thread. Here's a close up:
Lost & Found by Rayna Gillman. Hand dyed cotton, stamped with junkyard finds and other items.
Dancers in the Moonlight by Susie Krage. Paper and metal leaf laminated to sheer polyester fabric and silk screening with textile paint.
Well, I can always dream.
